What edits can you make with a text prompt?
FLUX Video Edit handles the edits that used to mean a reshoot or a compositing pipeline. Each one is a sentence.
Remove, add or replace objects and characters
Take the bucket out of the shot, put a seagull on the crate, or swap the person for someone else. What is removed is filled in from the scene, and what is added takes the scene's light, scale and perspective.
Rebuild the setting
Replace the background or the whole location: a harbour becomes a Mediterranean quay, a living room becomes a forest clearing, a rock face becomes a glass tower. The subject and the action stay where they were.
Rewrite on-screen text
Change signage, stencils, labels and lower-third names in place. The new text keeps the original type, angle and perspective through the whole clip.
Change colours, materials and effects
Recolour a garment, change a material, alter the lighting, or add weather such as snow that settles on the surfaces in the shot rather than falling in front of it.

Can AI edit an existing video without regenerating it?
Yes. FLUX Video Edit takes an existing clip and a text prompt and returns the same clip with only the requested change. It is a video-to-video editor, not a text-to-video generator, so length, framing, camera movement, timing and audio all come from your source footage rather than being generated again.
What stays unchanged when you edit a video?
Length, framing, camera movement, timing and audio all come from the source clip and are not regenerated. The output matches the source clip's duration and aspect ratio at 24 fps, camera moves and cuts are kept frame for frame, and source audio carries through untouched unless the prompt asks for a dialogue or sound change. Faces, products and everything else the prompt does not name stay as they were shot.
How do I remove an object from a video with AI?
Send the clip to FLUX Video Edit with a prompt that names the object, for example "Remove the orange bucket." The model removes it across every frame and fills the space from the surrounding scene, with the fill stable as the camera and the subject move. No mask is needed.
Can I change what someone says in a video?
Yes. Prompt for the new line, for example "Make him say 'Fresh mackerel, four for ten.'", and the speaker's lips follow the new words. You can also keep the sentence and ask for it in another language. The new line can only be as long as the speech it replaces, so write it to that length.
Can it change the background of a video without a green screen?
Yes. Describe the new setting and FLUX Video Edit replaces the background behind the subject through the whole clip, keeping the subject, the action and the camera move as shot. No green screen, mask or rotoscoping is required.
Does the audio stay the same after an edit?
Yes, unless you ask to change it. The source audio track carries through untouched by default. Prompt for a dialogue or sound change to edit the audio, and a silent source returns a silent result.
Can I make several edits at once?
Yes. Ask for several changes in one prompt and they are applied together in one pass. For larger jobs, feed the first result back in as the source and describe the next change, which keeps more fine detail than requesting everything at once.
What resolution does FLUX Video Edit output?
Output matches the source clip's aspect ratio and duration at 24 fps, up to 720p. Sources larger than 720p are downscaled. To deliver the edited clip at 1080p, 2K or 4K, run it through FLUX Video Upscale afterwards.
How long can the video be?
Up to 15 seconds and 50 MiB, sent as an HTTP(S) URL or base64-encoded MP4. Longer sources are rejected before processing rather than trimmed, and no charge applies to a rejected clip.

Describe the change, not the shot. Everything you do not mention stays as filmed, so the shortest prompt that names the change is usually right, and detail belongs where the edit needs it. "Remove the orange bucket." is a complete prompt. For an addition, say where it goes and what it does: "Add a seagull standing on the corner of the crate."
Is FLUX Video Edit the same as FLUX 3 Video?
No. FLUX 3 Video generates new clips from text, images and keyframes. FLUX Video Edit is a separate tool built on the same model family that edits a clip you already have. It is available as its own endpoint, /v1/flux-tools/video-edit-v1.
